Become a Kickstart trainee

At Charityworks, we firmly believe in the potential of young people to play a significant role in our national Covid recovery whilst recognising the challenge that the current climate brings for youth employment. And so, building on the framework of and funded by the Government’s new Kickstart Scheme, and utilising over decade of experience in the development of young talent to support their future careers to create social change in the UK, the Charityworks Kickstart Scheme provides a real job and development programme to power up the early careers of young talent on Universal Credit.

How does it work?

As part of our offer, we’ve established a network of over 250 UK-based social change organisations committed to offering more than 550 jobs in what is our largest employment offer to date.  Designed to complement these jobs is a bespoke, first-class leadership and talent development programme built off of the hugely successful Times Top 100 Charityworks programme designed to support the long term employability of trainees.  Specifically, successful candidates will access:

  • A real 6-month, paid job for 25 hours per week with one of our 250 partner organisations
  • A 6-month virtually-delivered talent development programme comprising a range of support including peer coaching, facilitated learning sessions on careers and employability, management of self and others, and broad national conferences building context, networks and connections

What’s the timeline?

Our partner networks have outlined their roles to us, and there are currently still more than 70 jobs available.  Roles are varied, suitable to all age ranges, including those with some work experience and those without, school leavers, graduates and non-graduates, at a variety of levels.  Placements can also be run in advance of the main Charityworks Programme too for those who have already applied.

Who is it for?
To access an opportunity on Charityworks Kickstart you need to be in receipt of Universal Credit and aged 16-24 years old.  To learn if you’re entitled to claim Universal Credit, you can visit here.
